As part of the City’s Sesquicentennial celebration, we are launching a Utility Box Art Project to bring more public art to our community. This beautification effort will transform five utility boxes throughout Martinez into vibrant artworks that highlight our culture, history, and community spirit.

This Project is a community-centered celebration, with art made by our community and chosen by our community. The artwork is intended to tie into the Sesquicentennial theme, Past, Present, Future, Together, highlighting what makes Martinez such a great community.

Call for Artists Now Open

The City invites community members of all ages to submit proposed art for the Sesquicentennial Utility Box Art Project. Please review the Call for Artists and Application for application guidelines, deadlines, eligibility, and additional information. Completed applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Community Voting

Watch this space! Once the art submission phase is complete, the community will have the opportunity to vote for the designs they want to see showcased across our City.

We're looking forward to seeing these new landmarks along our City streets!
