City Signature Events
Throughout the year, we are proud to partner with local community groups to host several signature events. There is something fun for everyone!
Lunar New Year
Martinez celebrates the Lunar New Year to bring good fortune and prosperity to our community. The annual celebration features martial arts demonstrations, lion dancers, firecrackers, booths, farmer's market, giveaways and more. The event is organized by community leader Vana Tran and takes place on Main Street in the heart of downtown every February.
John Muir Birthday - Earth Day Celebration
Join the National Park Service (NPS) and the John Muir Association in a festive celebration at the John Muir National Historic Site in Martinez, CA. The event combines John Muir's birthday and Earth Day, offering family-friendly activities, live music, food vendors, and exhibits by national parks and local environmental groups.

Bay Area Craft Beer Festival
The ultimate beer lover's paradise returns to the Martinez Waterfront in April! Over 40+ local breweries and an impressive selection of over 100 beers to sample, including some fantastic Home Brews!

King of the County BBQ Competition & Music festival
A family friendly event that is held over Father’s Day weekend at the Waterfront Park. There will be live music on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, a variety of arts and crafts and commercial vendors, community resources, carnival rides, food and more! Don’t forget the exciting BBQ competition on Saturday and Sunday where the coveted title of “King of the County!” is decided!

A celebration since June 19,1865, this family event commemorates the abolishment of slavery in the US where generations gather, acknowledge reunifying families after slavery with a hope of healing and having a better life.
4th of July Parade & Fireworks
Join us for a patriotic extravaganza at the Annual Downtown Martinez 4th of July Parade. It's time to paint Main Street red, white, and blue as over 40 spirited entries march down the heart of downtown Martinez in a dazzling display of community pride and celebration.
It's not over after the parade! A fireworks show dazzles spectators at the Waterfront Park Martinez Shoreline at 9pm. This spectacular 20-minute show promises a breathtaking display of lights and colors in the night sky. Open to the public, this event offers a fantastic opportunity for families and friends to come together and celebrate. Best of all, attending is free to make it accessible to everyone in the community. Join us at the Martinez Shoreline for a memorable Independence Day celebration under the stars!
Beaver Fest
The Martinez Beaver Festival is a beloved annual community event held at Susana Park. Beaver Fest highlights urban beavers and brings together friends and nature enthusiasts. This festival underscores the importance of beavers and their positive environmental impact. Join us for live music, education and nature exhibits from all over the Bay Area and innovative children’s activities.

Art in the Park
The Martinez Arts Association (MAA) presents its annual Art in the Park, located at Susana Park in Martinez. Come and enjoy fine arts and crafts created by 60 local artists, along with live music, food trucks, and beverages including wine and beer.

Martinez Pride
Martinez Pride is a family-friendly event celebrating the members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community in the City of Martinez and beyond. Local vendors, community resources, food trucks, children's play area, and live entertainment create an atmosphere of joy and fun for all!

Martini Shake Off
Martini Shake Off is an annual fundraiser for the Martinez Chamber of Commerce. This event celebrates Martinez as the birthplace of the Martini. At the event, there will be a catered dinner, Martini competition, silent auction, with live music and dancing.

An all-day family event held downtown on Main street. Fun activities, games, face painting, prizes followed by the annual glow in the dark parade with a special visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus! A very Martinez Holiday affair!
