Events

Throughout the year we offer various free or low cost events that are engaging and fun for little ones and the whole family. You might want to stop into Reindeer School at our Annual Holiday Frolic, dog for dinosaurs at the Dinosaur Dig, or be amazed with magic at Oohs, Ahs and Giggles. Check out our yearly calendar and activity guide and recreation calendar for upcoming events. You won't want to miss out!

NOTICE: Due to the pending inclement weather, the Children’s Light Parade has been CANCELLED. The Tree Lighting will take place at 5:30pm in the Main Street Plaza as planned.  Outdoor holiday activities have been relocated to City Hall, 525 Henrietta St., to allow for indoor participation. Day 2 activities will take place (rain or shine). Please refer to the updated maps below. For more information, please contact the Recreation Office at (925) 372-3510.

 

 

 Local organizations also host special events throughout the year including the Bay Area Blues Festival, St. Baldrick’s Shave-A-Thon, Bay Area Craft Beer Festival, Art in the Park and much more. Review our yearly calendar for the latest upcoming events around town.

Special Event Permit Process

The City of Martinez enjoys many varied special events throughout the year. These events are an important part of our community and can add significantly to the quality of life for our residents and visitors. Depending on the nature of events, they can enhance our neighborhoods, highlight products and services, provide marketing opportunities, and add to our cultural enrichment.

 The City’s intent is to endorse high-quality, first-class events that align with the City’s economic, civic, and community development goals, and to better serve and continuously improve the quality of life for residents of the Martinez Community.

 Click here for the Special Event Permit Application and return to the Recreation Division for review at least 40 days in advance of your event.

 Click here to review what events are currently on the schedule. Please note that the City of Martinez may reserve the right to deny a requested event date due to space availability and the Special Event Priority Scheduling Policy.
