CERT is hosting a two-hour personal emergency preparedness class on Saturday, Feb. 29 from 9 am - 11 am in the City Council Chambers. This is a free event open to anyone.
Come spend 2 hours learning how to prepare yourself and your family to be ready when a major disaster strikes. We will cover plans and ideas you should consider to help your family be ready when this challenging time occurs. Some of the topics covered: Identifying your disaster risks ? Preparing your Go Bag ? Secure home and personal data ? Evacuation and shelter-in-place ? Emergency kits ? Fire safety ?
The Martinez Community Emergency Response Team is offering two free class sessions beginning in March. The 20-hour class is based on the FEMA CERT Curriculum for emergency preparedness and disaster response. Martinez and Pacheco residents completing the class can elect to become city volunteer disaster service workers.
The Tuesday evening session is from 6 pm - 9:30 pm beginning on March 10, 17, 24, 31 April 14 and 21. Or the weekend marathon class starting March 27, Friday evening 6-9 pm and all day Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29 from 8 am - 5:30 pm.
