The speed limit on all local, residential, roads is 25 mph unless otherwise posted. This is set by California Vehicle Code.

To slow speeding cars and encourage safer driving, the City uses educational campaigns, engineering solutions, and law enforcement. We encourage all of our drivers to adhere to the posted speed limits and keep their eyes on the road at all times.

MPD is providing a grace period for the public to get used to the posted speed limit changes, where violators will be given warnings. Enforcement via citations will resume the first week of July 2026.
