What Solar Installers need to know

Licensed contractors in the City of Martinez are now able to apply for residential solar panel installation permits online with the help of SolarAPP+, a web-based portal for residential solar energy system installations (single family and up to two-unit residential units only), developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to automate project plan reviews. 

SolarAPP+ allows for permits to be processed within 72 hours (generally less than 24 hours) and allows the City to issue qualifying Residential Solar Photovoltaic (“PV”) permits faster. 

Other Residential and Commercial Solar Projects

All Multifamily Residential and Commercial Solar projects may be submitted over the counter between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and 1p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday or emailed to the Building Permit Center.
