Welcome to the City of Martinez Permit Center—your one-stop resource for obtaining permits, understanding requirements, and accessing services to help guide your construction, renovation, or development project from start to finish.

Beginning January 1, 2026, all construction projects in the City of Martinez that involve a building permit will be required to comply with the new 2025 California Building Standards Codes (Title 24).

Updated every three years by the State, these codes set the minimum standards for building safety, fire protection, energy efficiency, and environmental design. The 2025 editions include important improvements to structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, energy, and green building requirements.

Homeowners, contractors, and design professionals are encouraged to review the upcoming changes early to ensure smooth permitting and compliance once the new codes take effect. All building permit applications that are completed and submitted on or after January 1, 2026, are required to comply with the 2025 California Codes.
