In honor of Memorial Day, the City of Martinez invites the community to take part in “More than a Name on a Wall,” a tribute display. This remembrance offers residents a meaningful way to honor loved ones whose service and ultimate sacrifice has shaped our nation’s history.

The Memorial Wall will be on display in the lobby of the Martinez Senior Center from May 1 through May 22. Community members are welcome to visit during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m., to view the display and add a name. Participants may write the name of a family member or friend they would like to have remembered this Memorial Day, along with an optional one‑sentence note about them. Name tags and materials will be provided on-site, and no appointment is needed. For those unable to visit in person, names may also be submitted by email to lchristoffersen@cityofmartinez.org.

On Memorial Day, the Wall will move to Ignacio Plaza to be featured during the City’s Memorial Day Ceremony on May 25 at 11:00 a.m. Names may continue to be added before or after the ceremony, ensuring that all who wish to honor a loved one have the opportunity to do so.
