Basketball Court Resurfacing Project, October-November 2024

Mountain View Park’s revitalized basketball court: the chosen resurfacing method will result in an all-weather, non-abrasive, textured court surface that will be durable, comfortable, and easily maintained for years to come! The multilayer surface system is optimized to provide consistent bounce, sure footing, and outstanding durability, with shock-absorbing layers that reduce fatigue on legs, knees, ankles, and feet.

Resurfacing work will include crack sealing and releveling of the existing asphalt, the addition of a one-piece "slip sheet", strength and cushion layers, and a fresh colored top for a smooth and long-lasting new court surface before final line painting.

Main layers to the new court:

1 – Existing asphalt: Repaired base asphalt, all cracking filled and leveling corrected

2 – Slip Sheet Layer: Separates the surface from the base so the new court is unaffected by base shifting

3 – Reinforcing Membrane: Provides strength and cushion

4 – Structural Layer: Asphalt emulsion for durability and longevity

5 – Refinement Layers: Smooths imperfections and adds cushion

6 – Acrylic Resurfacer, Coloring, and Line Paint: Fortified finishing coats for color and texture

The basketball court will be closed with fencing up so that the surface is protected while work is underway. Please respect the fence so that work can move forward with minimal delays. The City has contracted with Vintage Contractors, Inc. for this project. Weather permitting, tentative completion is expected late November 2024.

Construction Update 11/01/2024: The initial layers of the resurfacing process have been applied. Weather permitting, this project will be completed in a matter of weeks!
