Please join in this day of Tribute and Reverance.
Hosted by the City of Martinez with support from the First Responders from that tragic day, it is a testament that the 28 children and their teacher have never been forgotten.
This year the service will be a TRIBUTE and REVERENCE as we recognize
- The 24 “Survivors” (students) of the accident;
- Firefighters, Sheriff’s Department, Coroner’s Office, MPD, CHP, AMR , and Fire Rescue;
- Shell Refinery personnel who so miraculously appeared with their cranes;
- The remarkable medical ER staff and medical facilities (CC County Hospital, Veterans Hospital, Kaiser Martinez and Mt. Diablo (now John Muir) that were instrumental in saving so many lives;
- And, the City of Martinez leaders and the generous, remarkable community.
The Miramontes High School Choir, Orinda (who the Yuba City Choir was going to participate in a School activity that morning) will be doing a tribute at the Remembrance.
A brother to his twin sisters, victims in the accident, will pay tribute with bagpipes.
The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard will lead the CCC Consolidated Firefighters honor guard, who will present the ceremonial bell-ringing and “reading of the names” service.
Refreshments and a light lunch will be served.
