FREE COMPOSTING WORKSHOPS - Wednesday, June 10, 2009
Did you know that organic waste accounts for an average of 20-40% of the waste generated in households, according to a recent study?  By simply composting their own yard waste, such as leaves, fruit and grass clippings, local residents can inexpensively fertilize their own yards and directly contribute to the solution to this mounting problem.

Free Home Composting Workshops sponsored by the City of Martinez will be held at the City Hall Council Chambers, located at 525 Henrietta Street in downtown Martinez.  It will be held on Wednesday, June 10th, from 7 to 9 p.m. Participants will receive hands-on instruction, informational materials, and an opportunity to purchase Smith and Hawken Biostack compost bins at a significantly reduced price!  Registration is required, so please call the City's recycling hotline at (925) 372-3531 to register today.
