HOW TO RESERVE A PICNIC

 Review the list of reservable parks below to discover important details of each site. Once you have found the perfect location for your event; contact our office to check availability. Site availability may vary and we do book up quickly so please plan to reserve a site early!

Reservations can be made in person at the Recreation office, 525 Henrietta St. (Second Floor) or over the phone by calling (925) 372-3510. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, closed from 12pm-1pm. All picnic permits must be picked up in person prior to the picnic date.

Off-season picnics- Picnics during the off season are available on a first come, first serve basis with no city services (such as frequent trash pick up, cleaning tables, and restroom clean up)

WHEN TO RESERVE

Reservations for picnics between Saturday, April 27, 2019 – Sunday, October 27, 2019 begin Thursday, February 14, 2019 for Martinez Residents and Friday, March 1, 2019 for Non-Residents.

Reservations made in person on Thursday, February 14 will have priority. Phone call reservations will be taken in the order received.

CANCELLATIONS AND CHANGES

Cancellations and rescheduling’s must be made two weeks or more prior to the event date and will be assessed a $10 fee. Cancellations made within 14 days will forfeit all fees.

IN CASE OF RAIN. Rained out reservations may be rescheduled or a complete refund requested. Call the Recreation to report an inability to hold your picnic due to rain. The decision to issue refunds will be based on a Parks staff report.

SPECIAL REQUESTS

Special requests must be made at the time of application including, but not limited to:

  • amplified music/speakers
  • fee reduction
  • exceeding more than the picnic park capacity
  • non-picnic use
  •  concessions
  • sale of alcoholic beverages

Pool use is not included with park reservation. Special requests must be made through staff to the Parks and Recreation Commission a minimum of 45 days prior to the date requested. If approved, a copy of the approved Special Request must be attached to this permit.

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES

The consumption of alcoholic beverages, including but not limited to beer, wine, and hard liquor, is restricted or prohibited in public parks. With the reservation of a picnic, the city will provide renters with a special permission to consume alcoholic beverages as part of the event.  Special permission is applicable only to private consumption and shall not be used for the sale of alcoholic beverages. City reserves the right to withhold this provision, using reasonable discretion, from any group or individual. Sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited unless written permission is received from Martinez Police Department and Alcohol Beverage Control Board.
