The City of Martinez, in conjunction with the County Office of Emergency Services, is sponsoring Emergency Preparedness classes for residents of the community.
The goals of the CERT program are to enable neighborhood or workplace teams to prepare for and respond effectively to an event until professional responders arrive, to provide a link between neighborhood or workplace teams and professional responders, and to integrate CERT Zones into the community. CERT members are then integrated into the emergency response capability for their area.
CERT training will include 20 hours of instruction over a 6 week period in the following areas:
- Disaster Preparedness and Terrorism
- Fire Safety
- Disaster Medical Operations
- Light Search and Rescue
- CERT Organization and Disaster Psychology
- Final Simulated Disaster Exercise
